A fully completed bedroom

This past weekend we received a visit from Aunties Kami and Alicia who were on a mission to properly decorate Quince’s bedroom. Kami finished his bedroom linens earlier in the week. The overall finished product is far more than I would have dreamed, it looks amazing. Many thanks to them for a wonderful new place for Quince. 🙂 He has some pretty cool aunties.

The blanket on the rocking chair was made by Kami’s mom, Margie. Although the curtains were designed and prepped by Kami, actual sewing was also done by her mom. 🙂 The gaint leaf in the corner is from Ikea. Although not visible in the photo, there is a bed skirt on the crib. It’s mostly brown with a strip of the different patterns on it. The bumpers are double sided so we can either mix and match then or choose a side. The bear sitting in the crib is also made by Kami and was her baby shower gift. Lastly a bookcase makes our changing station with the fabric drawers holding his clothes. Alicia and Mike gave us the changing pad and case. It’s a great idea and will serve well when he gets older and has no need for the changing pad. The elephant was a gift and made by our friend Frances. You can just see the top of the diaper holder, which also done in the same fabrics as the rest of the room.

In other news, over the weekend I was put on official bed rest due to high blood pressure. Our appointment last Tuesday displayed a slight spike, so I was asked to make an additional appointment for Friday morning to have it checked. When I went in it was still high, I was sent across the street to the hospital so they could do some blood work and perform a non-stress test. Good news is the blood work came back all in normal levels. They were testing for signs of pre-eclampsia. It’s quite dangerous, and has the potential to show itself in this last stage. They were also very pleased with how Quince moves and his heartbeat. They were not pleased with my blood pressure. Over the course of the test they had me in a number of poses, including sitting up. That was the worst and resulted in the machine beeping at them to check me(that means my bottom number crossed 100), reclining was slightly better(in the 90’s range I was told) but fully laying down was the best. I say best but that’s only relative to the other two. I go back in this afternoon for another round of monitoring and more blood work. Up until last week, every appointment had yielded in them saying how great things were going. As of this last weekend we’re at 39 weeks.

  1. Thank you for the link to pictures etc. I forwarded them to my home email so that I can show to Mike. Sorry to hear about bed rest but at least it shouldn’t be to long. The bedroom for Quince turned out sooooo great.
He really does have some pretty cool aunties. Tell Richard hi from us and keep us informed.

  2. Richard explained to me about the rise in blood pressure possibly related to foreign (Richard’s) DNA and also the recommended treament. He further asserted that he was VERY able and willing to do his part in such treatment. What a guy. I really respect him for his devotion and effort.
