Fall times

Hello! As you can see wordpress is up and running well for the most part. I still have some changes I’d like to make in order for it to have that more personal touch but so far I feel that it’s got a great start.

Things I like so far are the easy of changing things! No longer to do I have change each individual page!! Which is also a huge bonus since I often forgot all the pages which had been changed verses those who still needed changing. Yes, one simple widget and it’s all done. πŸ™‚ Now that I’m more familiar with the set up it’s also easier to create new pages, it cuts out a lot of copy/paste for me.

Currently, my pages about Anime are all down, they will return! At least some of them will. Sailormoon and Mahoromatic will probably stay down however Sakura Con will come back.

Lots has happened this fall. In the last two weeks alone, I’ve been to the Seattle area and back 3 times.

The first time was to drop Richard off at Seatac for his business trip to Taiwan, Hong Kong and finally mainland China. He was gone a total of 10 days but it felt like much longer. Huhu, our younger cat, wasn’t even interested in playing fetch with me until about 3 days after he had left. I tried the first couple days but to no avail. Tassel just roamed the house looking sad. Unlike Huhu, she knows that a suitcase means extended away time, even though I was home there was something still afoot.

The Friday following his departure I went over to Seattle again for a date with Cas and Robothon. For our date we surprisingly did not go out to Blue C for sushi! I think it’s a first in quite some time. However we went up to the outlet mall and walked around with Rhia. That night we went into downtown Seattle for a “Meet the Author” session held by the Seattle Public Library for author Nick Hornby. He read from his newest book titled Juilet, Naked. He’s reading and question/answer which followed was a lot of fun. I have never been to anything like that before and I’m really glad I went. Even though I’ve never read anything by him. He’s a author Cas has been reading for a long time. We enjoyed it in very different ways. πŸ™‚ After that we went over to Purple Wine Bar which was just a few blocks away. We had to stalk for a table in the upstairs section and even got glared at by another couple of girls, turns out they had been stalking the same table we were. In the end it all worked and the 4 of us shared the table. For the sake of having huge cozy chairs that seat 2 people I think it was worth it. I had a nice muscat there, I’d list the name but I’ve already forgotten what it was. I was most impressed by the goat cheese we had which was just amazing.

Saturday morning I got up and packed my bags. Although Robothon had started Friday, I wasn’t there until Saturday afternoon. It felt odd going without Richard, but he said I would help out so I did. In fact I got to judge the mini sumo event. It was a lot of fun. I’ve gone several times before but it’s always been to just hang out, this is the first year that I did something other than just attend. I’m glad I did! The winner was a guy who had built about 4 robots for this event. He ended up with 1st and 2nd place.

After leaving the Seattle Center, I drove down to Alicia and Mike’s to pick up some stuff I had left there from when I stayed over just a few nights before that. I stayed for dinner then got on the road in time to not get stopped by the nightly testing being done on the Hood Canal bridge.

The rest of the week went by quite slowly, at least it seemed that way. Thursday night I went over to Laura and Jake’s house for a real Italian lasagna. I wasn’t thinking there was much difference between what I’m used to and a real one until after I had finished eating. Amazingly my stomach didn’t feel really heavy and packed full. First of all, the meat sauce wasn’t nearly as heavy as I’m used too which I really liked. The ingredients for the sauce are the same but she prepared them slightly differently. The end result seems to be a slightly lighter meal. Yum!

Friday had me rushing out of work to attend a dinner hosted by Richard’s Granddad and his wife, Jan. All the grandkids were invited and it’s purpose was to pass down some antiques which had been owned by Uncle Dee. I’ve heard lots about him but he passed away before I joined the family. He had wonderful taste though. So there were a few items around the living room which we were to choose on. In the end it was Eleanor, Alicia, Chris and myself who made it. Richard wasn’t due back until the next evening and Mike was at home sick. We had trouble getting down to the decision process until they took Eli away from us. Once that happened we were finished in about 10 minutes, no sense wasting time on it. πŸ™‚

In order to save the trips back and forth I continued the journey to Chris and Liz’s townhouse. Liz just recently bought it and it’s the first time I had been over. I was sorry she wasn’t there but she was also out of town on business. I love her yard! It’s just the right size for one person to take care of and has so much great potential and these great tall fences so you don’t need to worry about the neighbor’s gardening out growing what you have. Also they never planted grass, making even easier to create a very personal space. And stairs! Every time you turn there’s more stairs. No need for a gym membership while living there, just get up slightly earlier in the morning and run the height of the house a couple times. As far as townhouses go, I really liked it. The highlight for me being the yard. πŸ˜€

That afternoon I went shopping in Sumner with Alicia, Eli and Mom(or Grandma depending on who you ask). We ate lunch at a great place called Blackberry Cafe, I think. I know those two words were in the name somehow. The food was great! Eli was distracted by the star balloon they had on each table. In fact so much so he forgot he was drinking milk from his bottle. It was fun to watch. They have a cute scrapbook/rubber stamp store, called Paper Muse, with some great ideas. Both of us bought a couple things from them. There are lots of antique stores; some with actual antique stuff and others with antique style.

We got back to Alicia and Mike’s only to turn around and all leave again. They were going up to Steve and Meg’s for Eleanor’s birthday, while I went to wait for Richard’s plane to land. Luckily he’s plane landed about 30 minutes early. However he then had to wait while he declared his luggage, one of the officers wasn’t too happy he was on the phone as he got into the line. After leaving there we too went to Steve’s. They had just finished eating dinner and were just hanging around chatting at that point. We hung out there until about 10 and left just in time to drive straight onto the ferry. πŸ™‚ I always enjoy it when that happens.

Sunday was a lazy day, even though I did do some laundry. It was really nice after having so much in one weekend.
