Four days, many miles and a lot of fun

The previous week Quince and I got to hang out with Cas. It was then we learned that she was going to spend part of this week by herself. Being a mere 4 weeks from her due date, we said we would love to keep her company while her husband, Al took their daughter Rhia on a short camping trip. Early Sunday morning Quince and I left Port Angeles to beat the Lavendar Festival traffic. We did just that! Getting to the Seattle area rather early, we decided to pit stop and have lunch with Kami. It seemed the stars aligned just right as we had lunch, got in enough out of car time and when we got back on the road Quince fell asleep for his afternoon nap.

We were the first visitors to spend the night Al and Cas’ new house! Woot us! Quince had a lot of fun playing around the back yard and running circles inside the house around a partial wall that divides the kitchen and living room. In fact he thought it was so cool and just the idea itself seem to bring on barrels of laughter. I’m really excited for them and this house. I can’t wait to see how their plans come along. 🙂

Tuesday morning we left the house and walked around downtown Ellensburg. For those who don’t know, it is part of the National Historic Districts of the U.S. Since I went to school there the town has continued to keep its sleepy summertime mood. I have to admit they have gotten some cute shops since I was there. Sadly, some cool stores are gone(such as Button’s) but it’s also cool to see the ones that have made it all these years. Going back with Quince is kind of fun and I can really see how much he’s grown. The last time we were there, he rode in the BOB stroller as he still walked too slowly and would have never made it walking around all of downtown. This time, he was amazing! He walked next to us, holding either my hand or Cas’ until we were almost back to the car. At the very end I was wishing for an Ergo carrier but that was while I was in our last stop for the morning. EburgDtown_2013We left for Seattle area that afternoon when Quince fell asleep. To break up our trip a bit we stopped off at Theresa & Ben’s house in Issaquah. Theresa had told Vespa that Auntie Amanda and Quince were going to stop by. When we drove up, she was at the door waiting for us to arrive, nose pressed to the glass. It was quite cute! The two of them had a blast together and right away wanted to play. DSC_1492DSC_1485_2

From there we left to pick up something at Kami’s house. We ended up arriving there rather hungry as I didn’t take note of after work traffic. Whoops. At least the weather was nice and hey, if you’re going to drive 30 mph on the freeway instead of 60, you may as well roll down the windows and rock out. That’s what we did. Of course, we were singing to Pitch Perfect. Once we got there, we were hungry so it was off for Greek food at Kokoras. They are amazing and have a wonderful homemade salad dressing. Yum!

After dinner we left for a visit and glass of wine with Auntie Liz. That makes 4 Aunties and an Uncle in one day, go us! Quince loved sitting next to Liz eating his ice cream. We were sorry to miss Uncle Chris, who was on the other side of the country. Quince was up way too late but he gave Liz a concert of Pitch Perfect. Have you guessed his favorite movie yet?

Wednesday morning we left Seattle for home. We arrived at the ferry in time to drive right on board. One last stop before we got home was at Port Gamble. Often we go right by this sleepy port town boosting cool looking old houses. Being a beautiful day, I decided to stop. We got out and walked around town. Stood in front of landmarks for photos, which I’m proud to say that Quince is getting good at standing there and saying cheese for a photo. Unfortunately, he wants to see the picture right after it was taken making it hard to get multiple shots but we are working on that. We also had fun playing with the self timer on the camera.
