Snowpocalypse 2019

I’m confident this snow storm will replace the storm of 1996 as large and disruptive.

We were fairly stuck inside the house for about 7 days. While Calypso does fine in the snow, the alley was so horrible we didn’t want to leave for fear we wouldn’t make it back in.

Things kicked off on Friday when school was released early. Richard took Q to school, then swung by Blackbird to get me a coffee. In that time he decided it would be a better idea to not drive into Sequim. A good call as later we learned that one of his co-workers ended up in a ditch.

Saturday we had a chance to all play outside together. It was a toss up between Edwin and Richard being the least outfitted for the conditions. A sled ramp was formed out and it was a lot of fun.

Saturday afternoon the snow really stepped up its game. Originally predicted to only add about 3-5 inches, we ended up with at least double that! Sunday morning looked like a winter wonderland straight from the mountains.

With way more snow then expected, they kept schools closed on Monday to give crews additional time to clear. Between weather conditions, and light continued snow fall schools were unable to open until Friday. Even that was on a 2 hour delay.

Even today, a full week later, Q’s school is still a winter wonderland with snow everywhere. It’s a striking contrast to drive from in town with hardly any snow except what was in a pile, to out by his school where it still covers the ground.

I tried to snap a photo each day documenting our time.
