Weekend fun

Richard has been working hard on Quince’s bedroom in prep for the arrival of Kami and Alicia this weekend to add their creative touch using paint. Here are some quick pictures of the room in stages.

When painting the ceiling Richard got a fancy white paint which rolls on pink and dries to a flat white. It claims to be the best paint to use on primed drywall or over other whites so that you can see where you are painting. In fact it does work really well and he didn’t have to go back to retouch areas that were completely missed. He enjoyed calling me downstairs to see it in progress. I said “I thought you said it was white paint”, he replied with “Yeah, when I saw the color I just decided to roll it anyway. He’ll live with a pink ceiling.”

Our next three pictures are of the roll with the wall colors. We received the color choices from Alicia on Sunday. Knowing the busy week ahead, Richard and I went out to Home Depot that night to pick up the paint. When we got home he started working right a way on the yellow. The green layer wasn’t actually done until Thursday night. Molding and floor trim were put up Friday night. The last picture is how we left the room early Saturday morning.

Since they were going to be painting all day, we didn’t want to be in their way so we stayed in Seattle until about 7pm then made our way home. We came home to find Alicia and Kami relaxing around the living room and eager to show off their handiwork. With good reason! I just took these this morning, so there’s a funky sun spot from the window.
