Lost in a sea of apples

DSC_9830As some of you may know the weather for the Olympic Peninsula these last few months has been amazing! There has been very little rain and a whole lot of sun. Yes, that three letter word that starts with an “s” and ends with “n”. Typically, not something Western Washington is known of having.

This late long summer has led to a great year for our apple tree. We actually have two trees, however one didn’t really produce this year. Last year Richard cut back the larger of the two. It was clearly really happy about the trim and all the sun! Over the weekend Richard took Quince outside and together the two of them collected a box full.

Thus far I’ve gotten 16 cups of apple sauce. Half of which already became apple butter.  The next batch is in production! Both taste great, if I do say so myself! This year I didn’t take any photos of the applesauce/butter making but I did get some great ones of Quince helping Richard. 🙂
