Keeping watch

It’s been some time since I posted anything. Life has been rather busy these days and some of it was rather unexpected.
Quince is generally a very happy tot. Back in November, he took interest in the toilet. For Christmas he received a toddler insert seat. That alone improved our ease and frequency of use. At present, he has no trouble using the toilet for pee or poo and either can be completed at any location. Our big hold up is that he isn’t telling us when he has to go. We have been working with him but so far the best seems to be the ask/visit often method. wpid-IMG_20130212_093205.jpg

Once a week we attend school through the Infant-Toddler program at Hamilton elementary. This week he was really into the play kitchen they have. Where he spent time making eggs. It’s obvious he has watched Richard and I as he seemed confused that nothing was coming out of the shell but pressed  on anyway. As you may recall there was some question about his speech. The speech therapist has started working with him. Whether on his own or because we are trying more, he has gained some words. Currently favorites include “oh wow” and “uh-oh”. He will also mimic the alphabet as sung by the Sesame Street & Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Edit! A few days after I originally wrote this post on the 13th, Quince actually told us he had to go. It was awesome! He did it once while at school and another day at home. Hoping we can achieve a diaper free house by this summer. 🙂
