While I started this post some time ago, I just realized that I never actually published it. So here you go, the story of my jam mess.
Summer berry wonder! I was invited to go and pick berries with a friend who is garden sitting for another friend of her’s. Holy harvest batman!! I was not expecting to have close to 6 long planter boxes of berries to chose from. In addition to strawberries, there were lots of raspberries as well! I was in picking heaven. Grand total, I got about 5 pounds of berries. That was scaled back, since at some point I realized I needed to just stop or I would be there until dark.
Upon getting the berries home I had to decide what to do with them. Why not turn it into jam! Having close to 5 pounds that seemed a perfect way to capture summer.
It was less than tidy but I had a great time and despite being unable to smell anything past super burnt strawberry goo, they turned out delicious. Especially since it was my first time making jam ever! No, I don’t count apple butter. Pictures are worth a thousand words and can tell you everything about my experience.
